1984 Yamaha SRX250 51Y 9,180km 5,701m £2,600
Cooler than the Fonz in a sombrero and almost as rare – the Yamaha SRX250. This bike came out at a time when power and bling were the name of the game and there wasn’t much room in the market for a retro British café racer style ride, so not many of these were made. . . . Which has its benefits 30 plus years on because if you were to rock up at your local biker café (or anywhere else for that matter) on this SRX you’d be certain to attract some envious glances.
The SRX is a super light and nimble bike built around a simple 4-stroke, single cylinder air-cooled engine. Its six-speed transmission gives you as much control as you’ll ever want to use and the disc front and rear drum brakes are more than up to the task of stopping its 123kg body. Straightline speed was never its strongest point but it is a really enjoyable ride and loves to be flicked around country lanes.
It’s quite the looker as well: three-spoked gold rims; red frame and white tank; half-cowl faring; backswept clip-ons; black engine. Someone at Yamaha went to a lot of trouble to make this bike look as good as it does. Very fortunately, we have been able to find one of the very few around in really nice condition. All over this bike is excellent and we think it will become increasingly collectible with time. Don’t miss the opportunity to get this rare beauty.
This bike has been through the NOVA system. It is fully UK registered and ready to go !
