|Model||Silk Road CT250S|
The CT series of bikes has been around since 1964 and has been used for a relatively wide range of bikes which could loosely fall under the “trail” umbrella. In amongst these are the CT50, CT90, CT110 trail Cubs, the CT50 Motra and the CTX200 Bushlander.
As with its CT cousins, the Silk Road is characterised by high ground clearance and a rising exhaust, the better to keep it out of the mud and away from the rocks. This bike stands out, however, in the elegance of its design. It has the kind of class that would not put it out of place riding around the city centre in a tuxedo. In cream with sand blocks over the black frame and a gleaming, tucked-in-tight, curved exhaust it really is a head turner.
In terms of performance, the Silk Road’s single OHC 4-stroke has the usual Honda reliability and in addition comes with an ultra-low first gear for heavy conditions. The seat is relatively low making it suitable for shorter riders. Ours comes with the large rear carrier.
This bike is in remarkable condition for its 37 years. Actually, it’s in remarkable condition for a bike half its age. The paint is lovely, the chrome gleams, the engine makes a satisfying roar. It even has the original toolbox and a new set of tyres.
Our Silk Road is a collector’s piece and one that will appreciate if taken care of. She likes to be run and will provide hours of fun to her new owner. She is eager to ride around town and off-road (provided she is washed after!) and is looking for a keeper who appreciates her stylish chic.
