A few months back now, my colleagues in Japan sent me a picture of a very tidy looking red engine XLR250R. They had a question for me. Overall the bike was very nice but there was some paint missing from the enigine. What to do? Do we want it? Should they paint it?
After looking at the pictures and disccussing it with them I asked them to leave it as it was, put it through the usual checks and send it over. Wherever possible, we like our bikes to be original. If there has been no paint you can see exactly what you are getting and, in this case, I think the ageing paint on the engine just adds to the look.
Overall, it is very tidy. The gold rims, forks and swingarm are excellent, as is the frame. There is a little pitting at the top of the forks and some very light corrosion at the front end of the exhaust. The tank is not immaculate but good and it has a rear rack with tool case and a second toolkit with original tools on the left of the rear fender.
This bike has only done 7,319 miles and has been thoroughly checked by our mnecahnics in Japan. It will be gone through again before it leaves here.
This bike has been through the NOVA system. We can arrange registration and delivery. Registration is a 3-step process: obtain a dating certificate from a DVLA accredited dating officer; MOT; registration with DVLA. This costs £150.
Delivery can be arranged
