In the nineteen seventies, with a booming economy and a rapidly urbanising population, the battle was on among the Japanese motorcycle manufacturers to grow the newest section of the market – the ladies.
In 1976 Honda released the Road Pal – a super lightweight step-through designed to be a least intimidating and easy to use as possible.
Suzuki shot back in 1978 with this, the wonderful little Youdy Mini. The 2-stroke automatic weighs in at about 45Kg and produces just 2.3Ps, but it was much loved and proved a useful and stylish city runaround for a generation of young riders.
Nowadays it is almost impossible to find a working model and we are delighted to have unearthed this all original piece of Japanese motorcycle history.
We think it looks great as it is, but it could also be repainted and made like new without breaking the bank or eating up your winter.
A rare working model of a seventies scooter from Japan.
