Warning: do not purchase this bike if you just want to blend into the background.
The Gemma 250 was first revealed as a concept bike at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show and was such a hit it went into immediate production, with the first ones (like this one) going on sale in 2008. It is a futuristic and stylish ride powered by a flux capacitor with a regeneration pod of negative ion hydro quarks.
Not really. It uses the same single cylinder 4-stroke liquid cooled fuel injection engine as the Bergman. This is undoubtedly a good thing since getting parts for a flux capacitor can be really rather tricky. So, the Gemma is a regular two-seater twist and go but it’s not just a pretty face. It uses a whole new management system and is lighter than the Bergman.
Performance-wise it delivers plenty of power and is very smooth and comfortable. In terms of looks . . . well, you won’t see anything like it in the supermarket car park. Long, low, sleek and smooth, with elongated indicators and an exhaust that’s cooler than a hatful of ice cubes. (Don’t tell anyone, but it’s actually very practical as well. Not only is it automatic and belt driven meaning easy to ride and clean, but it is chock full of storage spaces and smart design touches like the easy to grab parking brake.)
The Gemma 250 is a striking scooter but also one that is very capable. If you are looking for a practical bike, but one with a little zing, you could do a whole lot worse. Come and check her out!
