Exceptional condition. Very low mileage

Japan has one of the highest percentage of people living in urban areas of any country. The reason for this is that so much of the country is covered in steep mountains, unsuitable for habitation. Bad news for people who enjoy pottering around an allotment, but great news if you have a yen for tearing down twisting mountain roads on a sports bike.

For pretty much as long as there have been engines mounted in frames, young tearaways have been congregating in remote country areas to let their hair down on speedy machines, both two wheels and four.

Back in the late eighties Honda were providing thrills for those with the money to spend with the NC30, Kawasaki with the ZXR and Yamaha the FZR. In a straight line the FZR was often pipped by its rivals but where it came into its own was in handling and cornering.

Pretty much anyone could get on an FZR and immediately become a better rider. Whether on the track or rural roads, it proved to be a powerful and yet eminently manageable speedster.

The naturally aspirated inline 4 liquid cooled engine revved high, handled sharply and was capable of taking corners at speeds your mum definitely wouldn’t have approved of. Fortunately, the twin discs at the front also enabled those wishing to slow down to do so with alacrity.

The downside of all this fun is that so many of these fantastic machines ended up on their side. Not so this beautiful example in red and white. Once we’ve unloaded I will take more photos and a video to give you a better idea of its cosmetic condition, but even from the shots taken by my colleagues in Japan it is clear this is a lovely clean, straight and very low mileage machine.

This bike is due to arrive with us on May 22nd. A £500 deposit will secure the machine. If, upon arrival, the bike is not as expected the deposit will be returned.
